Photo Editing Exercise

Original Image.
I took this photo on a recent trip to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, FL.

Cropped Image

I adjusted the color saturation of this image using Gimp 2.8.6.  I saturated the red hues within the image.

To edit this image I took the previously color saturated image and posterized the colors to a level 3 using Gimp 2.8.6.  I then added an Artistic filter called Clothify.  Finally, I rounded the edges of the image.

Preparing to go

Going on a trip overseas is a new undertaking for me.  Luckily, much of the planning for this trip has already been done for me, which takes a lot of the stress off of my shoulders.  I've never taken a trip that's been more than a week long so packing has never really been an issue for me.  I usually pack up my backpack for weekend trips or for slightly longer trips my carry on size bag.  I did not have the proper equipment to prepare for a three week long stay.  Below you can see some of the things I've purchased in preparation for my trip.  A massive purple (my favorite color) suitcase, a lunch bag, a power adapter/converter plug, my kite, a new digital camera, and a travel size iron are just a few of the items that will be coming with me on this   virgin trip abroad.

Figuring out what to pack is not my only worry.  I am leaving behind my furry child for the first time since I adopted her.  My amazing dog Athena certainly looks like she's going to miss me a lot. She took a seat in my suitcase to make sure she fits so that she can tag along and see London too.  My sister will be taking care of her while I'm away so she will have some good company, but I will sure miss my baby while I'm gone.

Fortunately, I will not be traveling alone.  As you can see my traveling companion, Owlbert, has his passport ready.  He's no stranger to flying, so the nine hour flight from Orlando to London will be a cinch for him.  He's looking forward to the sights, smells, sounds, and flavors this trip will have in store for both of us.

Left: Just some of the things I'll be bringing with me on my trip.  Top Right: Owlbert has got his passport and he's ready to fly.  Bottom Right:  Athena wants to come along. She's sizing up the suitcase to make sure she'll be comfy on the way there.

I cannot describe how excited I am for this trip.  It is very surreal to me that it is only ten days away.  I'm sure it will be an experience that I never forget.  For all of my classmates, I look forward to meeting y'all in person.  For all of my friends and family, thank you for your support that has enabled me to take advantage of this opportunity, I hope you enjoy following along on my journey.
